
This one had an under-the-sea theme. Alys ran the kitchen and deserves the credit.
FIRST COURSE
Seahorse bread – we made bread sculpted into seahorses. They looked great.
Blue soup – the bean variety.
Kraken platters – a tentacle for each table (hedgehog mixture), with sand (frumenty), carrot starfish and sea urchins (can’t remember what they were).
Coral reef – a lamb stew with food-coloured cauliflower standing up in it.
SECOND COURSE
Fish pies – actually apple and almond meal pies, shaped to look like fish (idea from Jane Tuckwell) – they looked fabulous.
Sea foam – egg whites whipped with sugar, served with marzipan and gingerbread sea-themed cutouts.
